A Jennings Road man is facing charges after police said he raised a hatchet at his father and threatened him during a verbal argument in the car Sunday night.

Kevin B. McMahon, 34, was charged with breach of peace and threatening. He was released on a $5,000 and taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport for a psychiatric evaluation.

McMahon and his father were in McMahon's car in the parking lot of the Duchess Restaurant on the Post Road, according to the report, when they began arguing. During the dispute, McMahon reportedly raised a hatchet and said, "One of us is going to die tonight." His father got out of the car and called 911, while McMahon took off.

McMahon was located in Orange by that town's police and placed under arrest.

McMahon was scheduled to have appeared Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
