A man was arrested after police said he threw an empty wine bottle at his former girlfriend, and then dragged her through the broken glass, cutting her leg.

Weetmaher Deronville, 23, was charged Thursday with second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He was held on a $50,000 bond and was scheduled to appear the next day in Bridgeport Superior Court.

According to police, the couple was arguing at their Meadowcrest Drive residence, where they both live, over whether the woman could leave to go get some food. Deronville, police said, didn't want her to leave and threw the empty bottle at her. When it shattered, Deronville dragged the woman across the glass shards, causing numerous cuts to her legs, according to the report.

Young children were present in the home at the time of the incident, police said.

Deronville was also served with a warrant issued by Greenwich police for failure to appear on breach of peace charges.
