Oneill White, 32, and Vernon White, 33, were charged with sixth-degree larceny after they allegedly tried to steal 18 used tires from the rear of Fairfield Tire and Auto, 1370 Kings Highway Cutoff, around Tuesday night.
A witness called police about 7 p.m. to report the two men had parked a box truck behind the tire shop. Police found the tires, worth about $300 total, in the truck, according to the report.
Oneill White, who lives on Brook Street in Bridgeport, was driving the truck, which was unregistered, police said. He also was issued an infraction for operating an unregistered vehicle.
He and Vernon White, who lives on McKinley Avenue in Stratford, were released on a promise to appear Sept. 15 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
