Officers were dispatched to Super Stop & Shop, 760 Villa Ave., Sunday after receiving a report Sunday that a woman was trying to steal energy drinks.

A store employee told the manager that she watched a suspect she described as a blonde-haired woman put 22 cans of Red Bull into a hand basket and then walk to the back of the store, according to the report. The suspect then covered the basket with a jacket and walked out the front door, police said.

The manager was waiting outside and said, "I'll take my Red Bull back," and the suspect dropped the basket and ran. But officers caught up and identified the suspect as Jose Espinosa, 36, of Livingston Place, Bridgeport.

Espinosa was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear May 5 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
