Cops: Serial shoplifter nabbed trying to swipe gum, antibiotic cream

A 21-year-old woman charged with shoplifting Wednesday evening had eight outstanding warrants for her arrest on similar charges, police said.
Jacquelyn Souza, of Holland Hill Road, was arrested at Super Stop & Shop on Villa Avenue, along with Naser Basujevic, 26, of Mountain Road in Seymour. Police said Souza was seen putting $117 worth of chewing gum and Neosporin into her purse. She and Basujevic were stopped at the front door as they attempted to leave without paying.
Basujevic was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear May 14 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
Souza was charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as one count of first-degree failure to appear and seven counts on second-degree failure to appear. She was held on bonds totaling $210,500 and was scheduled to appear in court the next day.
According to court records, the other warrants for Souza's arrest stem from numerous shoplifting arrests in Fairfield, Bridgeport, Stratford and Trumbull.
