An employee of Super Stop & Shop, 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff, was arrested Monday morning, charged with taking $74 worth of groceries that he did not pay for while he was working a shift at the food store.

Leonard D. Smith, 36, of 871 Sylvan Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

According to the report, he was seen on the store's surveillance camera consuming some of the items, and hiding others in his coat.

A seven-year employee of the store, Smith was released on a promise to appear Dec. 19 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
