An Old Stratfield Road man's blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit when he crashed into several cars and left the scene earlier this month, police said.

John. G. Rogers, 58, was arrested on a warrant Sept. 25 charging him with three counts of driving under the influence, four counts of evading responsibility and one count each of failure to drive right and failure to obey traffic control signs. He was held on a $50,000 court-set bond.

In the Sept. 17 incident, police allege that Rogers's car hit another vehicle on Jennings Road around 9 p.m., drove off and then struck another car. Rogers didn't stop after striking the second, according to police, and continued on Old Stratfield Road where he struck a third car, pushing it into another vehicle.

Rogers left that accident scene as well, police said, and he was found at his Old Stratfield Road home. Because of his level of intoxication, police said, Rogers was taken to an area hospital.

After getting the results of Rogers' blood work from the hospital, police secured a warrant for his arrest.

He turned himself in at police headquarters and is scheduled to appear Oct. 6 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
