Nicholas Firella, 18, of Meadowbrook Road, was charged Tuesday with interfering with a police officer.

The charge was filed after officer spotted Firella walking in the Old Post Road, near Turney Road, around 1 a.m. Tuesday. The officer stopped to speak with Firella and asked him if he had any drugs or contraband in his possession. According to the report, Firella tried to drop a cigarette pack on the ground. Firella then fought with the officer as he tried to get rid of the pack, which contained marijuana and a pipe, police said.

Firella was also issued an infraction for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a promise to appear Dec. 23 in Bridgeport Superior Court on the interfering charge.
