A man tried to steal eight bottles of Ciroc vodka from Fairfield Wine and Spirits, 561 Post Road, on Wednesday, attempting to conceal the 750 ml bottles by stuffing them into his pants, police said.

One of the bottles -- selling for $33.99 each -- broke as he was leaving the store, according to the report.

Harrison Conley, 35, of Leslie Road, Bridgeport, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear June 10 in Bridgeport Superior Court.

He was taken to a local hospital for an emergency psychiatric evaluation because of statements made to police during his arrest.
