Two women, who said they took merchandise as part of a pre-bachelorette party prank, were arrested at Kohl's department store, 290 Tunxis Hill Road, last week.
Marisol Ameziane, 27, of Brewster Street, Bridgeport, and Luz Naurlil, 26, of Chapel Street, Norwalk, were both charged Dec. 3 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny. They were released on a promise to appear Dec. 16 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
Police said Naurlil walked out of the store with $298 worth of unpaid merchandise, while Ameziane had $401 in stolen items.
The women told police that it was a contest between the two to see who could steal more as a prank in advance of a bachelorette party, according to the report.
