Police said they have a suspect in an armed robbery Tuesday night at Star Fuels, 350 Jennings Road.

Around 9 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at the gas station.

A suspect, later tracked to a nearby home with the help of the police K-9 unit, walked into the station and confronted the lone employee in the store. He demanded cash from the woman and held a large knife in the waistband of his pants.

The employee, who turned over register receipts, was not injured.

Officer Kevin Wells and the K-9, Ruger, tracked the suspect who fled on foot from the gas station to a nearby home, where a search warrant was executed.

The robber was described as a black man, about 6 feet tall with an average build, and wearing a hooded black sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a black scarf covering his mouth.

"We are confident that this robbery will be solved with an arrest of the person involved," Sgt. Suzanne Lussier, department spokesman, said Wednesday. "A successful outcome of an investigation of this type can only be done through the availability of a K-9 to respond in a timely manner."
