Police are investigating the theft of $4,733 from Splash Car Wash, 1400 Kings Highway Cutoff, that is believed to have been an "inside" job.
The theft was reported Saturday by the car wash owner, who said that over the last two months, cash deposits had been stolen. He thinks that two employees -- one who works at the Fairfield location and one who works at the Shelton outlet -- are involved.
A review of security video shows a man enter the car wash, using a key to disable the alarm pad. The man then went into the manager's office, and again used a key to open the safe. His light-colored hooded sweatshirt was pulled over his face, and he held his left hand up to hide his face from the security camera. He appeared to be talking on a cellphone the entire time, police said.
