Fairfield Theatre Co. will present a performance by Raul Malo, a Cuban-American singer-songwriter, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Doors open 7 p.m.
Malo, who in 2007 released his Christmas album "Marshmallow World and Other Holiday Favorites," was born in Miami and started playing bass guitar in high school, according to a release.
Malo, bassist Robert Reynolds and drummer Paul Deakin in the 1980s formed a country band with a Latin influence called the Mavericks, based on their appreciation for Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. The group's awards include Top New Vocal Group, and Top Vocal Group in 1994 by the Academy of Country Music and a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance.
The band, which toured extensively this year after reuniting since disbanding in 2003, will close the year out with a holiday tour in support of the 2007 release.
Tickets, $35 in advance, $40 at the door, $3 off for FTC members, may be purchased at www.fairfieldtheatre.org.
