Donald Joseph Naedele, 77, of Stratford, lifetime companion of Lee Orris, died July 7, 2010.

Born in Bridgeport, he was a resident of Stratford for more than 15 years. Naedele was proud of his service to his country. He served in the U.S. Navy (1950-54), U.S. Marine Corps Reserve (1954-57) and the Coast Guard Reserve (1960-75), and ultimately retired as a chief petty officer. He also served on the Fairfield Fire Department and was a lifetime member of the Port V National Association of Naval Veterans.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna Lee Paolini and her husband, Peter of Stratford; grandchildren, Danny and Dana Paolini; four step-daughters, Nina, Lynn, Kim and Aimie; nephews, Jerri Naedele and Robert (Bo) Naedele and his wife, Cheryl; nieces, Mary Ellen Samatulski, Patti Gray, Terriann Plude and Joan (Tiger) Carr and their families. He was predeceased by his brother, John Naedele.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, July 9, at 11:15 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield, and at noon at St. Ann's Church on Brewster Street in Bridgeport. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours took place July 8 from 4 to 8 p.m.
