Dr. Robert A. Stoller, 81, of Fairfield, formerly of Newburgh, N.Y., husband of Lois Stoller, died July 12, 2010.

Son of the late Emil and Augusta Stoller, he was born on June 6, 1929, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He graduated from Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts and from the University of Michigan in 1951.

Stoller then attended Albany Medical College, with an internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Three years of general surgery followed at the Albany V.A. Hospital and Memorial Hospital in New York City.

He took his orthopedic surgery residency at Lahey Clinic in Boston and went into private practice in Newburgh, N.Y., for 40 years, until his retirement in 2003.

He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church in Newburgh, N.Y.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Lois, include four children, Nancie O'Sullivan and her husband, Greg of Fairfield, Bill Stoller of Fairfield, Stephen Stoller and his wife, Tina of Waverly, Ohio, and Jim Stoller and his wife, Martha Chew of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joanne Stoller of Fearrington, N.C., his cousin, Arlene; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, John Stoller.

A service celebrating Stoller's life will take place Saturday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Black Rock Congregational Church, 3685 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. Calling hours will take place Friday, July 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
