Dog owners have until Friday, June 29, to obtain licenses for the fiscal year that begins July 1. All dogs 6 months old or over must be licensed by July 1 each year, Town Clerk Betsy P. Browne said in a news release.

Licenses are available in the Town Clerk's office Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A current rabies certificate is required. License applications also may be made by mail. The fee for a spayed or neutered dog is $8. The fee is $19 for a dog not spayed or neutered. To qualify for the lower fee, a certificate of spaying or neutering must be presented the first time a dog is licensed. After June 29, a $1 per month penalty will be added.

Mail applications should include a check made payable to "Fairfield Town Clerk," all required certificates and a self-addressed, stamped envelope and mailed to: Betsy P. Browne, Town Clerk, 611 Old Post Road, Fairfield CT 06824.

The new tag and certificates will be returned by mail.
