Donald C. Schroeder

Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Schroeder, and had been a Fairfield since 1982 after moving from Guilford.
Following service in the U.S. Army, he began his career with the Equitable Insurance Co., retiring as vice president of computer operations. He was a parishioner of St. Pius X Church and a member of the Fayerweather Yacht Club in Bridgeport. He enjoyed woodworking, working in his yard, traveling and spending time with his family.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include four children, Karen M. Stephens and her husband Richard of Sanford, Fla., David P. Schroeder and his wife Mary Beth of Norwalk, James A. Schroeder and his wife Rose of Aiken, S.C., and Mark D. Schroeder and his wife Cyndi of Milford; a sister, Marilyn Wilson of Corfu, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren, and a niece, Marianna Fagan of Corfu, N.Y. He was predeceased by his first wife and the mother of his children, Joan M. Schroeder, and a brother, Roberet C. Schroeder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, in St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, followed by military honors. Private burial will be in Lawncroft Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, Feb. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road.
