Timothy Coppola, 20, of Nepas Road, faces charges after he flipped his SUV over on Hoydens Lane Monday night shortly after 8 p.m.

The Ford Escape was lying on its roof but the driver was not there, when police arrived on the scene . An officer spotted two men walking west on Hoydens Lane, who said they had been in the vehicle, bute not injured. They were walking to get help.

Coppola told police he was driving when he lost control and hit a stone wall, rolling the SUV over. There was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, police said, and Coppola failed field sobriety tests. A bottle of Jack Daniels was found in a door pocket, police said.

He was charged with driving under the influence by someone under 21 and failure to drive right. Coppola was also issued an infraction for possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released on a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear Dec. 13 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
