An elderly woman walking near her home Thursday afternoon was struck and killed by a car.

Ora Skowronski, 93, of 192 Fairland Drive, was hit by a car around 2 p.m. in front of 256 Fairland Drive, police said. When officers arrived at the scene, she was lying in the middle of the road, according to the report. She had no pulse and was not breathing, and officers administered CPR until EMTs arrived.

Skowronski was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, where she was pronounced dead.

Few details of the accident, which is still under investigation, are available and no charges had been filed as of Friday morning. Police said the driver -- whose identity was not released -- did take, and pass, a breathalyzer test.
