Elks accepting scholarship applications

The Elks National Foundation "Most Valuable Student" Scholarship is accepting applications for high school seniors attending college next year.

Applications will be available at elks.org/enf/scholars as well as in the guidance offices of area high schools, including Fairfield's four high schools. They may also be picked up at the Fairfield Elks Lodge, 452 Brookside Drive.

Completed applications are due at the lodge by Dec. 7. Three boys and three girls will be chosen to advance to higher judging levels, with $60,000 being awarded at the national tier, according to a Fairfield Elks official.

In the last two years, Fairfield entrants were granted over $7000 in scholarship awards.

The contest is open to all seniors and there is no need to have any affiliation with the Elks.
