The Fairfield Elks recently donated $1,725 to Fairfield's Parks & Recreation Deparment to buy new game tables and furniture for the Beanery, the town's substance free dance and recreation center for high school students and special needs people.

The award was channeled through the lodge from a state grant awarded to the local Elks for its support of the Elks National Foundation, according to a release from the Fairfield Elks.

Ginna Paules, coordinator of the department's youth activities, received the check from Connecticut Elks State Vice-President Jan Wankowicz and Frank Chizmadia, president of the local Elks.
