FEMA, SBA set dates for closing Fairfield storm-aid offices

The Federal Emergency Management Agency's Disaster Recovery Center, at the Fairfield Senior Center, 100 Mona Terrace, will remain open through Wednesday, Dec. 19, to review claims filed for losses caused by Superstorm Sandy.

During that period, the center will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The U.S. Small Business Administration will operate its office at the same site through Friday, Dec. 28. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday; it will be closed Dec. 25, Christmas Day.

People planning to file a claim with FEMA should do so before visiting the center so they can bring a claim number with them. To file with FEMA, go online to www.disasterassistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362.

For more information about SBA claims, homeowners and renters should call 800-659-2955 or visit www.sba.gov/sandy. Homeowners and renters may visit SBA's secure website at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/ to apply online for disaster loans.

Deadlines for FEMA or SBA loans are Dec. 31.
