An outreach team from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be on hand this weekend at the Home Depot, 541 Kings Highway Cutoff, to offer tips and techniques on reducing future flood damage.

Mitigation specialists will offer "how-to" information for retrofitting buildings and elevating utilities, as well as clean-up tips to prevent mold and mildew from forming in a storm-damaged home.

Information will include instructions on how to relocate circuit-breaker panels, outlets and switches above flood waters, moving washer and dryer hookups to a higher floor, elevating furnaces and water heaters and preventing sewer backups with a backflow valve.

The FEMA team will be at the Home Depot both Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
