The Fairfield Theatre Company and People’s United Bank were presented with honors at the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce’s 69th annual meeting and awards dinner.

FTC, which will soon open a second performance space called The Warehouse, adjacent to its StageOne on Sanford Street, was the recipient of the chamber’s 2015 Company of the Year Award.

People’s United Bank was presented the President’s Award for Community Outreach.

The program, which took place recently at the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University, featured remarks Catherine Smith, commissioner of the state Department of Economic and Community Development, who gave an overview on the economic outlook for both Fairfield County and the state.

“Both the Fairfield Theatre Company and People’s United Bank have immensely contributed to the community in a variety of different ways, providing help and support where they can,” Beverly A. Balaz, the Chamber of Commerce president, said in a statement. “We wanted to acknowledge and recognize their contributions, accomplishments and achievements.”

“FTC, the best business in Fairfield. I just love the way that sounds,” John Reid, the producing artistic director, said in the statement. “I was truly honored to receive this award on behalf of the FTC team, our Board of Directors and the entire community of supporters who have helped make FTC such a vibrant and exciting organization.”

Armando Goncalves, People’s market president for southern Connecticut, accepted the award on behalf of the bank.
