Candidates running for state legislative seats from Fairfield in the November election are slated to debate Oct. 18 at a forum sponsored by the Fairfield League of Women Voters.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Fairfield Public Library, corner of Post and Old Post roads. After the debate concludes at about 9 p.m., the candidates will be available to meet with voters individually.

The public is invited to submit written questions for the candidates to address during the forum. The submissions will be screened by LWV members for duplication and clarity.

State House of Representative candidates invited to participate include: 132nd District -- Brenda Kupchik, Republican, and Tom Drew, Democrat; 133rd District -- DeeDee Brandt, Republican, and Kim Fawcett, Democrat; 134th District -- Tony Hwang, Republican, and Michael Murren, Democrat.

State Senate: 28th District -- John McKinney, Republican, and Mitchell Fuchs, Democrat.

Also, Fairfield Judge of Probate -- Daniel Caruso, Republican, and Pamela Jones, Democrat.

Kiki Karpen, past president of the League of Women Voters of Connecticut, will moderate the debate.
