Books make the best holiday gifts, the Fairfield Public Library says.

And its librarians on Sunday, Dec. 4, will give a presentation on their recommendations for a variety of genres and age groups.

The program is planned at 2 p.m. at the main branch, 1080 Old Post Road.

Suggestions will be made for kids, tweens, teens, fiction, genre fiction (mysteries, sci-fi, and others) non-fiction, biography/memoir and for what the library called "the kid in everyone."

Recommendations will include not only best sellers but other titles as well, the library said.

Trained in supplying information, the librarians will hand out booklists.

The library said it has coordinated its recommendations with the Fairfield University Bookstore just a few blocks away on Post Road, which has stocked some of the recommendations for purchase.

The Friends of the Fairfield Public Library will operate a gift-wrapping station.
