Fairfield Police: Intoxicated driver could lose gun permit

FAIRFIELD — A man who police said was intoxicated, and carrying a gun, was taken into custody after a one-car accident just after midnight April 15.
David M. Guerra, 35, of Glen Road in Newtown, was charged with driving under the influence, carrying a firearm while under the influence, and failure to drive right.
It was a just s few minutes after midnight when police said Guerra drove off the road on Walls Drive and hit several trees. The car rolled onto the driver’s side.
After failing field sobriety tests, police searched Guerra and found a Glock 42. Police confirmed that Guerra had the proper permits for the handgun, but this arrest could result in the loss of those permits.
Guerra was released on a $100 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on April 24.
