Fairfield Teen Theatre to stage musicals for 40th season

Fairfield Teen Theatre, sponsored by the town's Parks and Recreation Department, has announced its three summer productions for this year, its 40th anniversary. Each production is performed by a different summer youth theater company.
"Shrek the Musical," will be produced by Main Stage, the oldest and most veteran of the theater groups for performers 13 to 19 years old.
The Magic Box theater group, also for performers 13 to 19, is presenting "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee."
Disney's "Aladdin Jr." will be performed by the PreTeen Players, the department's theater camp for 8- to 12-year-olds.
"Shrek" will be on stage at Fairfield Woods Middle School, 1115 Fairfield Woods Road, for two weekends -- Fridays and Saturdays, Aug. 1 and 2 and Aug. 8 and 9, at 8 p.m., as well as Sundays, Aug. 3 and Aug. 10, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15; $12 for students and senior citizens, and may be purchased at the door or reserved by calling 203-372-9464.
"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" will be presented on Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, July 27 at 2 p.m., also at Fairfield Woods Middle School. Tickets are $12 at the door.
"Aladdin Jr." will be on stage in the Fairfield Ludlowe High School auditorium, 785 Unquowa Road, Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Teen orchestra members are needed to fill the pit orchestra for "Shrek." Advanced instrumentalists who read music well and play electric and upright bass, cello, violin, drums, percussion, electric and acoustic guitar, French horn, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, flute or keyboard should email firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements to play.
