Fairfield U. student allegedly slapped ex-boyfriend

FAIRFIELD — A Fairfield University student was charged with assault after she allegedly began slapping her ex-boyfriend when she saw him dancing with someone else.
Katherine L. Barber, 19, of Gillete, N.J., was also charged with breach of peace because of the incident, which happened at an off-campus party.
The victim said the incident happened Friday night, Oct. 28, and he reported it to campus security the following morning. He had a cut lip from Barber allegedly hitting him in the face with a closed fist several times. Campus security notified Fairfield police.
Barber said she tried to apologize later to the victim. She was released on a promise to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on Oct. 31.
