Bikini designer Letarte Swimwear Inc.'s annual warehouse sale in Fairfield attracts hundreds of women and girls who clog narrow Carter Henry Drive waiting their turns to get inside and fish for beach-wear bargains.
And when Letarte offered an exclusive, two-hour "preview sale" to benefit cancer research, tickets -- at $50 each -- quickly sold out with virtually no publicity.
Letarte's sale opens to the public at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 14, and continues for a week at its 160 Carter Henry Drive warehouse, the company said.
The sold-out preview sale Friday evening, June 13 -- which includes first dibs on the inventory of swimsuits and other garb -- raised $2,600 for Relay for Life, an American Cancer Society fundraiser.
Letatrte bikinis have been featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for the past 14 years, including the cover shots in 2013 and 2005.
The company's high-end beach ware is sold in 400 retail outlets nationally and online. Letarte said its warehouse sales attracts shoppers from all over the nation.
