Volunteer drivers from Fairfield are sought for a program that provides transportation for seniors and the visually impaired.

ITNCoastalCT, or Independent Transportation Network, provides door-to-door rides in six Fairfield County communities, including Fairfield, as well as Westport, Weston and Norwalk — where volunteers are also sought. The program also operates in Easton and Wilton.

Potential drivers are asked to volunteer two hours weekly to help older adults or those who have vision problems and who lack transportation to get to doctor appointments, go shopping and travel to other activities.

Under the program, drivers accrue mileage for their own future use or for the use of a loved one.

There is a fee for people seeking rides to join the organization.

Applications for membership or to become a volunteer driver are available at the website, www.itncoastalct.org, or by sending an email to info@itncoastalct.org.

To talk to an ITNCoastalCT representative, or to request more information about the service, call 203-858-2001 Monday through Thursday between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
