The annual Town-wide Spelling Bee will be held Wednesday in the Roger Ludlowe Middle School auditorium, continuing a three-decade tradition. The bee for the town's fifth-graders, is hosted by the Junior Women's Club of Fairfield.

The 7 p.m. event will include 50 classroom winners from fifth-grade classes in Fairfield's schools, plus alternates. The top three winners will be awarded medals and special prizes.

In addition to the spelling bee, the Junior Woman's Club of Fairfield hosts a "Touch-a-Truck" event in September, which raises funds for scholarships for Fairfield high school women, and "A Visit to Santa's House" in December. The club also hosts community service projects and social events throughout the year.
