Fairfield forecast: 2012 ends with sunny day, cloudy night

This last day of 2012 should be partly sunny, according to the National Weather Service, but tonight's countdown to the new year will take place under cloudy skies -- with a slight chance of overnight flurries.
Today's temperatures in southwestern Connecticut will rise to a daytime high in the mid-30s, with a west wind 9 to 14 mph.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with the temperature dips to a low in the upper-20s and a west wind about 14 mph.
There is a chance of flurries late today and into the first few hours of 2013, the NWS says, with no expected accumulation.
New Year's Day will be partly sunny, with a high temperature near 40 and a west wind 11 to 15 mph. Nighttime will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature around 20 degrees and a northwest wind around 10 mph.
Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 30 degrees and a west wind 8 to 14 mph. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around temperature plunging to the mid-teens.
Thursday should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 30 degrees. Nighttime will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the mid-teens.
The outlook for Friday, according to the weather service, is mostly sunny and temperatures in the 20s.
