Other than a slight chance of showers this afternoon, today's forecast for southwestern Connecticut over the coming weekend promises to be one of the nicest this spring.

The day is dawning under clear skies, but the National Weather Service predicts it will grow cloudier this afternoon as the temperature rises to a daytime high of about 63 degrees. There is a 20 percent chance of light rain after noontime, with a calm west wind between 5 and 15 mph.

The cloud cover gradually moves out tonight, according to the NWS, and the overnight low temperature is expected to be about 43 degrees.

Tomorrow should be a sunny day, and the high temperature will be about 62 degrees. Tomorrow night will be clear with a low of about 44 degrees.

The forecast for Sunday is largely the same as Saturday's: Bright skies with a high temperature of about 61.

Monday, however, there is a chance of showers in the afternoon, the weather service predicts.
