Fairfield forecast: Odds of a white Christmas increasing

A chance of snow showers this morning could give southwestern Connecticut a dusting, according to the National Weather Service -- with an even better chance for a white Christmas early next week.
The flurries are most likely to fall before 10 a.m., the NWS says, with little or no accumulation. Otherwise, skies today will be cloudy and the daytime high temperature is expected to rise to about 40 degrees. It will also be breezy, with a west wind 11 to 16 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph in the morning and gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the mid-20s. It will be blustery, with a northwest wind 15 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph.
Tomorrow should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 40 degrees. Nighttime will be mostly clear, with a low temperature in the mid-20s.
On Monday, there is a slight chance of rain after 2 p.m. Otherwise, the day will be mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 40 degrees. Odds of precipitation are 20 percent.
Overnight, snow is likely, mainly after midnight. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a low temperature in the upper-20s. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
On Christmas Day, there is a chance of snow before 9 a.m. Skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high temperature in the upper-30s. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Nighttime will be mostly cloudy, with a low in the mid-20s.
The outlook for Wednesday, according to the weather service, is for rain/snow likely, cloudy and temperatures about 40 degrees.
