A four-day stretch of unsettled weather is enveloping southwestern Connecticut, with the potential of rain -- and severe thunderstorms -- through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
Today, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4 p.m. Otherwise, skies will be partly sunny, with a high near temperature near 78 degrees.
Tonight, there is more potential for rain and thunderstorms, with the greatest threat in the early-morning hours Wednesday.
Later Wednesday, showers and thunderstorms continue in the forecast, the NWS says. The high temperature will be about 73 degrees and clouds will prevail.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued by the weather service for Wednesday afternoon and evening, because storms could produce heavy rain and lightning.
The same outlook is in effect for Thursday afternoon and evening, while the earlier part of the day also has potential for occasional showers. The high temperature is expected to rise into the mid-70s.
Friday, the same forecast holds, according to the NWS. Showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day and into evening, skies will be cloudy and the high temperature should be in the mid- to upper-70s.
