Updated 6:37 am, Friday, February 22, 2013
Today is expected to be mostly sunny in southwestern Connecticut, but the dire predictions of another massive weather storm later this weekend appear to be wide of the mark.
The National Weather Service says today's high temperature will register in the upper-30s, with a north wind 5 to 7 mph becoming east in the afternoon.
Tonight, the NWS says skies will turn cloudy and, in tomorrow's early-morning hours, there is a 30 percent chance of light snow. The temperature will dip to a low of about 30 degrees, with an east wind around 5 mph.
Stormy conditions will intensify tomorrow, with a mix of rain and snow -- primarily rain along the shoreline, more snow inland -- before midday, gradually changing to mostly all rain later. The high temperature will be in the upper-30s; chance of precipitation is 90 percent.
More rain is expected Saturday night, as the temperature falls to the low-30s with a northeast wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent, the NWS says.
Rain also is likely Sunday before 7 a.m. Cloudy skies are expected to prevail most of the day, with a high temperature in the low-40s. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Nighttime brings a slight chance of rain as the temperature registers in the upper-20s. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
The outlook for Monday, the weather service predicts, is mostly sunny and temperatures in the 40s.
