Fairfield forecast update: Trace of snow ends; rain possible

The dusting of snow that fell across southwestern Connecticut this morning ended at midday, leaving only damp roads in its wake and no accumulation.

The National Weather Service, however, says light rain is possible later today and perhaps even a few snow showers tonight.

In any case, what little snowfall there was fell far short of the 2 to 4 inches that initially had been forecast.

Skies the rest of today will be cloudy, with the daytime high temperature rising to the low-40s. There will be a north wind between 6 and 11 mph.

Cloudy conditions continue into this evening, but there will be gradual clearing by a blustery north wind between 11 and 20 mph. The temperature will fall to a low of about 20 degrees, the NWS says.

Tomorrow is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high temperature in the mid-30s. There will be a northwest wind between 17 and 21 mph. There is a slight chance of snow showers tomorrow evening before 9 p.m. and temperatures will drop into the high-teens.

Monday should be mostly sunny, with a high near 38 degrees. At night, clouds move in and the temperature will drop to the upper-20s.

Tuesday, the weather service predicts, there's a chance of rain and snow showers after noon. The daytime high is expected to be in the mid-40s.
