FAIRFIELD — A man who backed his car into another in the Fairfield Theatre Co. parking lot Oct. 28 was arrested for driving under the influence.

Norman Gaffney, 68, of Sycamore Lane, was also charged with operating under suspension and unsafe backing.

According to police, a witness saw Gaffney back up and hit another car and continue out of the parking lot around 3:30 p.m. The witness ran up to Gaffney’s car, told him to stop and called the police.

Gaffney failed field sobriety tests, according to the report. Police said Gaffney was charged with DUI in 2012 in New Rochelle, N.Y., and in 2014 in Darien.

He was released after posting $200 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Bridgeport on Nov. 8.
