FAIRFIELD — Thousands lined the shore from Jennings Beach through Southport to enjoy Fairfield’s annual Fireworks Show.

In anticipation, beach visitors, who came from near and far, passed the time dining on pizza, swimming, blowing soap bubbles, fetching ice cream from a Mister Softee truck parked on Fairfield Beach Road and tossing footballs. The crowd quieted as the pyrotechnics began and the “oohs” and “aahs” began in response to intricate displays.

The show lasted more than a half hour after which the mass exodus through the Beach Area commenced.
