Town government is partnering with local eateries to promote its first-ever Restaurant Week from Sunday, Oct. 14 through Saturday, Oct. 20.

The promotion will feature fixed-price lunches and dinners or other discounts on participating restaurants' existing menu items, Tetreau's office said.

More than 30 restaurants already have committed to participate, and the town hopes more will join the promotion.

Restaurants participating in the fixed-price promotion will offer $10 and $15 lunches and $20 and $30 dinners.

Some of the town's cultural and arts organizations are planning special events to coordinate with Restaurant Week.

"Fairfield is fortunate to have a wide variety of quality restaurants that we want to showcase," First Selectman Michael Tetreau said in a news release. "Restaurant Week gives the public the opportunity to continue visiting favorite places or frequent ones they may not yet know about."

Tetreau said the town's involvement is intended to support local business and the local economy and to encourage resident and visitors to patronize the local restaurants.

Cultural organizations planning events in concert with Restaurant Week include Fairfield Theatre Company, Fairfield Museum and History Center, the Fairfield University Bookstore and others.
