The Fairfield co-op boys ice hockey team had a late rally, but fell short to Trinity Catholic in a 5-4 loss Wednesday at Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport.

Trailing 4-1 after a goal by John Shanahan, Fairfield forward Tom Kryspin made it a 4-2 game at 6:39 in the third.

Mathiu Larouche redirected a shot by Dan Sylvestri with 1:49 left in the game to cut Trinity Catholic's lead to 4-3, and allowed Fairfield to empty the net and play 6-on-5.

But Sylvestri was called for a high stick with 38 seconds left in the game, and Tim Kaine scored the clinching goal for the Crusaders 6 seconds later.

Tyler Demilt made it interesting by scoring for Fairfield with 22 seconds left in the game.

Fairfield is now 8-11 on the season, while Trinity Catholic finished its season 5-15.
