FAIRFIELD — A teen was thrown from a high-tension tower Friday afternoon by an arc of electricity and was taken to the hospital along with his girlfriend.

The 16-year-old identified Fairfield resident was climbing one of the high-tension towers at Lake Mohegan when an arc of electricity set his clothes on fire causing him to fall from the tower, according to police.

He was conscious when authorities arrived on scene around 1:30 p.m. The teen’s girlfriend was also sent to Bridgeport Hospital’s Burn Unit with burns on her hands from trying to extinguish the fire on her boyfriend.
