A Fairfield teenager is among the people selected for a video to be screened Saturday in New York City's Times Square, promoting the achievements and acceptance of those with Down syndrome.

Chris Lopes is included in the National Down Syndrome Society's annual Times Square video that features photographs of children, teens and adults with Down syndrome working, playing and learning alongside friends and family, according to a publicity release. The images are designed to promote "the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome," the NDSS says.

The photo of Lopes, who has Down syndrome, was selected from more than 2,000 entries in the NDSS worldwide call for photos. More than 220 photographs will appear in the video to be screened in Times Square.

The video presentation kicks off Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October.
