The Fairfield Museum and History Center will host its annual Legends and Hauntings Walking Tour beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.

As night descends, docents will tell vampire stories, share tales of body snatching in the cemetery and reveal ghost legends at the Sun Tavern. Brave souls may even choose to stand on the very site where townsfolk tested alleged witches in the 17th century.

"We don't claim to prove the stories, we just to tell them and you can take away from it what you like," said Walt Matis, a Fairfield native and the museum's program and volunteer Coordinator . "The idea is to have a good time. ... And to help you think about what those things are that go bump in the night."

The Legends and Hauntings Walking Tour will begin at the museum, 370 Beach Road, and will take place rain or shine. The cost is $5 for museum members and $8 for non-members. Pre-registration is suggested; to reserve a spot, call 203-259-1598.
