Rain is falling across Fairfield and the rest of southwestern Connecticut this morning -- and the forecast calls for more of the same throughout today and tomorrow.

But brighten up, because the sun is expected to return for the weekend.

The damp outlook for today, according to the National Weather Service, should leave about three-quarters to a full of inch of precipitation on Fairfield and environs. High temperatures are likely to be in the mid-50s.

Tonight, the rain continues, but it will be fairly mild with temperatures in the mid-40s.

Friday will also be showery, with temperature highs of about 50 degrees, says the NWS. There will be a north wind of about 10 mph becoming west. The new rainfall amounts may be between a tenth and quarter of an inch.

Things look nicer on Saturday, with a sunny forecast and temperatures of about 50 degrees.

And Sunday, the pleasant weather is expected to continue with bright skies and temperatures of about 50.
