Nadia Uvarova, 24, of Old Stratfield Road, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to drive right after officers spotted a large amount of dirt and debris in the eastbound lane of Kings Highway East.

A friend's car -- with its hazard lights on -- was parked behind her as she drove slowly down the road and repeatedly drove into the right shoulder, police said. Uvarova, whose vehicle had heavy front and right-side damage, claimed she saw something in the road and swerved to avoid it, police said.

The officer who spoke with her smelled alcohol on her breath, police said. She was taken to police headquarters after failing field sobriety testing.

Released on $100 bond, she is scheduled to appear Dec. 19 in Bridgeport Superior Court.
