For his Eagle Scout project, a member of Boy Scout Troop 199 in Fairfield is organizing a winter clothing collection to benefit the Norma F. Pfriem Urban Outreach Initiative and United Congregational Church in Bridgeport.
Noah Mihaylo, of Fairfield, who is working to fulfill the requirements of the Eagle Scout rank, highest in Boy Scouting, plans the collection to qualify for the badge.
Mihaylo’s goal is to collect 500 winter coats, 500 pairs of winter boots, 500 winter hats and 500 pairs of mittens and/or gloves. Men’s, women’s and children’s items, in new or gently used condition, will be accepted.
Donations will be distributed during “The Great Thanksgiving Feast” at United Congregational Church, 877 Park Ave. in Bridgeport.
Mihaylo, a senior at Platt Technical High School in Milford, plans a drop-off day on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the church.
Mihaylo hopes to get school, church and civic groups involved with his Eagle project to help him reach his goals.
