Carol C. Young of Fairfield, an artist known for painting outdoors, will display her landscape paintings at the Pequot Library this fall. "Landscapes in Light & Shadow" will be on exhibit from Aug. 23 through Oct. 11.
Young has exhibited locally and won many awards for her work which has been praised for its bold use of light and shadow. "My technique is spontaneous. I want to capture the moment in my painting, intrigued by the patterns created by sunlight, shadows and shapes at that time of day," she said.
An opening reception for the art show will be held on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the library's John Thorne Perkin Gallery. The artwork will be on sale, with 25 percent of the proceeds benefitting the Pequot Library. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
