Ryan Hrabstock, 23, of Ardmore Street, was charged second-degree assault, carrying a dangerous weapon, interfering with an officer and disorderly conduct after police responded to a Pioneer Lane home last Friday where Hrabstock allegedly punched and kicked a woman several times.

Officers sent to the scene said Hrabstock was combative and had a dirk knife in his possession. When placed in a patrol car, he allegedly attempted to kick out a window, and also allegedly tried to strike an officer with his elbow at police headquarters.

The woman Hrabstock is accused of assaulting was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. The dispute, police said, started inside the home but ended up on the front lawn.

Police said the cause of the dispute was unclear.

Hrabstock's bond was set at $5,000 and he was scheduled to appear Tuesday in Bridgeport Superior Court.
